The Oyo State Government on Monday began the demolition of a building used as a kidnappers’ hideout in the Lakoun community along the Ayegun-Olojuoro Road in Ibadan.

The structure served as the operational base where Mrs. Olaide Adegoke John-Paul, the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, were held captive before their rescue over the weekend.

Videos and photos of the demolition, shared widely on social media by Oyo-based platforms including Oyo Affairs and Oyo Matters, showed the building being levelled to the ground.

Oyo Matters posted: “Oyo Government Demolishes Building Used as Kidnappers’ Hideout in Adelabu Family Abduction, Levels Property to the Ground.”

The action followed a security assessment of the site led by the Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Oluwagbemiga Abimbola, on Sunday.

Two members of the kidnapping syndicate were killed during a police rescue operation on Saturday, while four suspects were later paraded at the State Police Headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan.

Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and report any information about fleeing members of the syndicate.
