A young man popularly known as Sheihu, believed to be in his early twenties, has reportedly died in Ghana after allegedly stabbing himself while attempting to demonstrate what he claimed were supernatural powers.
The tragic incident reportedly occurred on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, during a youth-organised programme held as part of activities marking the annual Fire Festival in Salaga, located in the East Gonja Municipality of the Savannah Region.
According to eyewitnesses, Sheihu allegedly used a knife to stab himself before a crowd in what was said to be an attempt to prove his spiritual abilities. However, the demonstration reportedly went wrong after he sustained severe injuries.
He was immediately rushed to the Salaga Government Hospital, where medical personnel made efforts to save his life. Despite the emergency treatment, he was later pronounced dead.
The incident has left residents of the community in shock and mourning, with many expressing concern over the dangers of attempting risky public demonstrations in the name of proving supernatural powers.
Authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
