
A previously recorded interview of late Nollywood veteran Kola Oyewo has resurfaced online in the wake of his death at the age of 80, drawing emotional reactions from fans and colleagues across the entertainment industry.
The respected actor, celebrated for his decades-long contribution to Nigeria’s film sector, had opened up about a prolonged battle with ill health in the interview, which was conducted in 2024 by filmmaker Kunle Afod.
Speaking in the video, Oyewo disclosed that his medical challenges began in July 2019 when he started experiencing difficulties with urination. Concerned about the symptoms, he sought medical attention from a family physician in Ilaramokin, Ondo State.
According to the late actor, the doctor advised him to undergo additional medical tests, a move that eventually led to extensive treatment and more serious medical procedures.
Oyewo explained that doctors later diagnosed him with complications related to an enlarged prostate and embarked on a series of interventions aimed at managing the condition.
The veteran actor revealed that his health battle ultimately necessitated major surgery to save his life. He noted that the operation and subsequent treatment significantly affected his physical condition and altered his daily lifestyle.
The resurfaced footage has since renewed public attention on the actor’s personal struggles, with many Nigerians reflecting on his resilience and lasting impact on the country’s entertainment industry following news of his passing.
